HEAT ADVISORY + AVAILABLE COOLING CENTERS
We are already in the middle of a summer heat wave, and the temperatures will remain in the 90s for most of this week. Here are some important reminders to keep cool during the high heat, as well as locations you can visit throughout the City for some air conditioning or family-friendly summer activities:
- See below for times and locations of cooling centers, public swimming pools, and indoor activities. (You can also visit www.somervillema.gov/staycool.)
- Don't leave children or pets in locked cars, not even for just a few minutes.
- Please check on elderly, disabled, or ill neighbors who may need assistance.
- Stay in air-conditioned spaces as much as possible. If you exercise outdoors, avoid the middle of the day when it’s hottest.
- Drink extra water and wear light clothing.
- If possible, help us keep our trees healthy and thriving by watering a street tree in your neighborhood.
- Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, and if someone is showing signs of heat stroke call 911 immediately.
