Via Somerville community alert newsletter:Volunteer for the Medical Reserve Corp: Info Meeting Thurs., Feb. 7
The Medical Reserve Corp (MRC) is a volunteer opportunity for residents to support the health and safety of our community by assisting in the City's response to emergency situations such as natural disasters, disease outbreak, chemical accidents, or bioterrorism. MRC members are provided ongoing free training, supplies, and usable skills. Trainings have included: First Aid, CPR, Mental Health First Aid, Stop the Bleed, NARCAN administration, family disaster/emergency preparation, and more. The MRC is made up of both medical and non-medical volunteers. Additional volunteer opportunities may include support at community events, vaccination clinics, or helping to open a shelter during snowstorms or heat waves.
