Hey folks: one of the things on our last meeting agenda was creating some other kind of quick messaging system for short messages (meeting reminders, water main breaks, other breaking neighborhood safety issues, stuff like that).

In the past, people would use phone trees for things like this.

But we know everyone doesn't use a smartphone. Many people are not on facebook or are concerned about privacy issues related to them. Signal is bad at group texts, we hear.

We are considering alternatives.

I asked my world-wide twitter cabal, and they suggested these things other neighborhoods are using:

Slack
Nextdoor (there is a Winter Hill nextdoor I'm told, but Nextdoor keeps insisting on putting me in Medford so I refuse to join)
Facebook
Whatsapp
Groupme https://groupme.com/en-US/ (a friend said she's in several of these, seems to meet our criteria)

We are open to suggestions if anyone has ideas for a lightweight, low-volume, non-smartphone requiring option. Or any other communication strategies you might want to offer.
